Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations

Bryan Batson was named senior vice president, commercial operations, for AGL Resources (NYSE:GAS) in December 2011. He is responsible for delivering service to enable top-line growth and customer experience for the company’s 4.5 million customers served by its seven natural gas distribution companies -- Atlanta Gas Light, Chattanooga Gas, Elizabethtown Gas, Elkton Gas, Florida City Gas, Nicor Gas and Virginia Natural Gas – and for setting regulatory and legislative strategy for the enterprise.
Mr. Batson has 27 years of professional experience with AGL Resources. Prior to his current role, Mr. Batson served as senior vice president, governmental and regulatory affairs, providing executive oversight and coordination of all governmental and regulatory matters that impact the company's regulated utilities.
Previously, Mr. Batson served as senior vice president, external affairs, a position he held from 2004 until 2009. His many positions held with the company – including vice president of regulatory compliance and affairs, director of state regulatory affairs where he represented the company before the Georgia Public Service Commission, division engineer, division manager and service center manager – provide him a unique perspective on how to exceed customer expectations and foster productive relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
He has served on a variety of non-profit and industry boards and currently serves on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta and the Grady Health System Board of Visitors. He is a member of Leadership Atlanta, Class of 2004, and Leadership Georgia, Class of 1997.
Mr. Batson received his bachelor of civil engineering from Clemson University and is a registered professional engineer. He also holds a master in technology management from Mercer University.
Mr. Batson lives in Snellville, Ga., with his wife, Kathleen, and daughter, India.
