Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel

Jeff Brown was named senior vice president and deputy general counsel for AGL Resources (NYSE: GAS) in September 2009. He oversees the AGL Resources legal team’s activities related to the company’s regulated and unregulated businesses, litigation and corporate law.
Previously, Mr. Brown was vice president and associate general counsel. He joined the company in July 2001 as an accomplished senior level counsel with more than 20 years experience in the Atlanta legal community.
Prior to joining AGL Resources, Mr. Brown held several senior management positions in the legal department of BellSouth Corporation, including vice president and group counsel for the company's domestic, wireless, Internet, video and long-distance units, and vice president and general counsel of its international unit.
He also was vice president and general counsel of a telecommunications start-up company in Atlanta and, earlier in his career, was a partner with the international law firm, Hunton & Williams, where he served as a member of the corporate and securities team specializing in securities, mergers and acquisitions transactions.
Mr. Brown is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel and the State Bar of Georgia. He serves on the board of directors of the Atlanta Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
He received a bachelor of science in business administration in 1978 and a juris doctor with honors in 1981 from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
He and his family reside in Atlanta.
