Virginia Natural Gas

Robert Duvall was named president of Virginia Natural Gas in September 2014. In his role, he is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of clean and affordable natural gas to the company's more than 287,000 customers in southeastern Virginia. He also is responsible for assuring excellent service to customers, system growth and expansion, and community involvement, among other duties. Virginia Natural Gas is a subsidiary of Southern Company Gas (formerly AGL Resources), the largest natural gas-only distribution company in the United States based on customer count.

Duvall's career at Southern Company Gas began in 1984. Most recently he served as Virginia Natural Gas' and Elkton Gas' vice president of operations, performing in that role since 2005, and has held a variety of other engineering and operations positions within the company during his 30-year career.

A graduate of the Civic Leadership Institute of Hampton Roads, Duvall has served on numerous civic boards in the region and has worked closely with the United Way of South Hampton Roads. Duvall currently serves on the boards of Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, Virginia Chamber of Commerce, Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance, Hampton Roads Business Roundtable, Virginia Beach Vision, Charitable Pledge Processing, Saint John the Apostle Catholic School and Greater Norfolk Corporation.

A native of Columbia, S.C., Duvall earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Clemson University. He is a registered professional engineer.

Duvall and his family reside in Virginia Beach, Va.
