Southern Company Gas
Andrew W. Evans was named president of Southern Company Gas (formerly AGL Resources), the largest distributor of natural gas in America in May 2015 and chief executive officer in January 2016. He serves as chairman of the Southern Company Gas Board of Directors and is a member of Southern Company's Management Council.
Evans joined Southern Company Gas in May 2002, and has held several positions of leadership, including president and chief operating officer, executive vice president and chief financial officer and treasurer.
Evans came to Southern Company Gas from Mirant Corporation (formerly Southern Energy Inc.), where he served in various finance and business development roles over a nine-year period. Prior to Mirant, Evans was employed by National Economic Research Associates and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.
He serves on the board of the American Gas Association (past finance chair). He also serves on the boards of Zoo Atlanta (chairman); Grady Memorial Hospital Corporation (audit chairman); Grady Health Foundation (chairman); New American Pathways; the Atlanta Committee for Progress; and the Georgia Council on Economic Education.
Evans is a graduate of Emory University and the Booth/Kellogg program, CEO Perspectives. He lives in Atlanta with his wife, Faye.
