Named president of AGL Networks in 2006, James A. "Jim" Gillis is responsible for all aspects of Networks operations, including revenue, sales, engineering, operations and construction, and all new market and business expansion. He leads the development and implementation of a sustainable long-term growth strategy for Networks.

From 2004 to 2006, prior to being named president, Gillis served as vice president of sales, marketing and business development for AGL Networks. In that role he was responsible for setting an aggressive customer attainment and retention program in the wholesale and enterprise markets as well as evaluating new network and market expansion. He joined the company in 2003 as vice president of wholesale markets.

Gillis was a founding employee of KMC Telecom Holdings, a national CLEC (competitive local exchange carrier) with 35 operating markets. During his tenure with KMC, he held several positions as vice president, Southeast region; vice president, market development; and vice president, carrier sales. In his last assignment as senior vice president, data outsourcing, he originated long-term agreements that had annual sales of $300 million.

He spent the first 10 years of his career with Union Carbide in several sales and sales management roles in Houston, Los Angeles and the New York area. Gillis has more than 25 years of sales and business development experience. For the past 15 years, he has focused on telecommunications.

Gillis is a graduate of Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa.
