Armando J. Olivera was formerly president and chief executive officer of Florida Power & Light Company, one of the largest investor-owned electric utilities in the nation, from 2003 until his retirement in May 2012. He joined Florida Power & Light in 1972 and, prior to being named president and chief executive officer, was senior vice president of Florida Power & Light's power systems business unit. He also served in several other senior executive positions.
Mr. Olivera currently serves as a director of Fluor Corporation, Consolidated Edison and Lennar Corporation.
Mr. Olivera is a member of the board and a past chairman of the Florida Reliability Coordinating Council and a member of the boards of Enterprise Florida and the Florida Council of 100. He is a trustee of Miami Dade College and Cornell University.
Mr. Olivera, 65, has been a director of AGL Resources since December 2011. He was a director of Nicor Inc. from 2008 to 2011.
