Vice President and Associate General Counsel (Non-Regulated Businesses)
Dat Tran was named vice president and associate general counsel of AGL Resources (NYSE: GAS) in March 2007. Tran, who joined AGL Resources in August 2003, is responsible for managing and directing the legal affairs of all non-utility business divisions, including Sequent Energy Management, Southstar, Pivotal Storage, Pivotal LNG, Pivotal Home Solutions and Tropical Shipping.
Tran has more than 20 years of legal and business experience in the energy, utilities and transportation sectors, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, commodities trading and marketing, and project development. Prior to joining AGL Resources, he was assistant general counsel for CMS Energy. He also has held senior legal and management positions with Duke Energy and Kinder Morgan Inc.
Tran is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel and the Asian American Bar Association. He serves on the board of directors of Texas EquuSearch and the Asian American Bar Association Foundation of Houston.
Tran received his law degree, graduate degree in finance and undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut.
He resides in Houston with his wife and three children.
