Our Philosophy on Diversity
Rooted in our core value of honesty, integrity and respect, we value the richness that diversity brings to our workforce. Diversity makes our company better and the communities we serve stronger. We are proud of our efforts to maintain a workforce that represents many backgrounds and are deeply committed to cultivating an environment where the contributions of every employee, customer and supplier are respected. This commitment is reinforced by our ongoing efforts in the areas of employment and promotion, training, community relations and supplier diversity.

Diversity Council Charter
Formed in Oct. 2006, the Diversity Council is charged with cultivating an environment that promotes mutual respect, acceptance and cooperation and that enables and expects everyone at AGL Resources to embrace the diversity we encounter in our daily work. We recognize that doing so positions us to respond in the best possible way to the challenges and opportunities in our workforce, workplace and market place.

Diversity Council Goals

  • Promote a culture where individual differences are respected.
  • Ensure that all individuals, both inside and outside the company, including customers, suppliers and community members, are able to fully contribute to organizational goals.
  • Hold each other accountable to continually examine the processes and systems in place to ensure the attraction, development and retention of a diverse workforce.
  • Ensure that all employees are valued for the skills and contributions they bring to the business.
Board of Directors’ Statement on Diversity
The Board of Directors of AGL Resources Inc. believes that integrity, respect, fairness and a commitment to a variety of ideas, backgrounds and experiences are essential to create a stronger, more diverse and sustainable workplace. In addition we:
  • Set the example for diversity and inclusion for the Company, its employees and other stakeholders, including customers, suppliers and shareholders. Therefore, we will maintain diverse representation within our ranks, as well as that of Company management.
  • Promote an environment that is inclusive and fair to all, reinforced by the Company’s ongoing efforts in the areas of employment and promotion, training, community relations and supplier diversity.
  • Believe in and encourage diversity of ideas, backgrounds and experiences, resulting in demonstrations of the Company’s core values:
    • Honesty, Integrity and Respect: The foundation of everything we do.
    • Stewardship: We will make the most of all of the resources available to us – including our employees.
    • Value Seeking: In addition to seeking value, we will value and respect the diversity of our employees, customers, suppliers and shareholders.
    • Generosity of Spirit: We will be inclusive in seeking out those in need.
  • Expect evidence of progress to be reported to the Board of Directors on a regular basis. We will continue to receive reports from management on these efforts and engage in discussions with management on specific actions to achieve corporate diversity goals.
