Regulatory Process
On June 29, 2007, Golden Triangle Storage (GTS) applied for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for the original GTS Project from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). On December 7, 2007, FERC issued an Environmental Assessment on the project. Then, on December 31, 2007, the FERC Commission voted to issue a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for Golden Triangle Storage. (Both documents may be accessed through the FERC Website (www.ferc.gov, in the eLibrary section - search for docket number CP07-414.)
On August 5, 2011, Golden Triangle Storage filed an application for its proposed expansion project. FERC will again serve as the lead regulatory agency overseeing the participation of a number of other federal, state and local agencies in reviewing and permitting of the GTS Expansion Project. Golden Triangle Storage will work closely with these agencies as well as community leaders, landowners and other interested parties throughout the process. FERC and other regulatory agencies will oversee construction to ensure Golden Triangle Storage is meeting all the conditions of its permits. GTS' application for the expansion project also may be accessed through the FERC Website (www.ferc.gov, in the eLibrary section – search for docket number CP11-531).
It is our goal to maintain a good relationship with all of our neighbors, landowners, and communities in the area of Golden Triangle Storage. FERC and the Texas Attorney General's Office have provided helpful guides for citizens and landowners:
